What's Behind the Door?

stairway

noun
a way of access (upward and downward) consisting of a set of steps

The year is almost over and, as usual, it was filled with the typical assortment of up's and down's. For my part I'd have to say the up's have the lead, despite the sad state of the economy, etc.... and I hope everyone else feels the same.

But, if not, there is always next year!

Wishing everyone the best,

Michael

Odd, when I first looked at your image I thought it was a third alternative. Alternative? Uh-huh... You know on one door there's an outline of a male stick figure for men to enter, on the second there's a female stick figure for women to enter. And on this there's a jagged figure, for stairs to enter.

As for the ends and beginnings of year endings... It is interesting the way we need punctuation on our memories. "Oh that happened back in '93," she recalled. "No,,,No," he responded. "it was in '90 you moron. Your memory is so goofy."
"Goofy? You're the one who thought the other thing was back in '85 when everyone remembered it was really in '87."
"Yeah, goofy. And I don't give a frig what 'everyone' remembers, it did happen in '85, because that was the year that other stuff began."
"What," she spat. "You are wrong again. Nothing happened in '85. It was a year without one occurrence of any kind. Can't you get your years straight you cretin?"

I wonder why we have a drive to package up pieces of our lives in yearly boxes? And why the moment of Scotch-Taping the box on December 31 always appears to come with a waft of nostalgia?

On the other hand, I also wonder what explains the fact that everyone knows who Paris Hilton is. Wonder is weeeerd.

Happy New Year
